Moving On

Wow, it's been a while since I've written, and some things have changed. I work for a new company called www.mouthpiecesports.com
So if anyone doubted my sports knowledge, please change your mind because I have to know SOMETHING about sports to keep this job. Basically I'm a talent booker/associate producer for a new site that launches in June. It's a mix of myspace.com and Sports Illustrated. I offically quit my gig at WBBM a few weeks ago, and I do indeed miss radio (even though radio in Chicago is going through some tough times) I do miss it.

Good things:
Stan visited me at my new office
He showed me good cheap way to park downtown, it may be illegal, but I'm a risktaker
Carlos Zambrano still rocks my world
I'm an aunt again
the first guy I ever kissed found me on facebook

Bad things:
the first guy I ever kissed is happily married with 2 kids
I got pulled over for doing a U-turn on my most recent roadtrip to Ohio (it's illegal in that state)I'm working with Mender again (from the Pete McMurray Show) that's ok I guess
Tom Cruise on the Oprah Winfrey Show
I still miss Terry terribly

I'm waiting for the nice weather, the rain to end, and the Cubs to win a series (not a World Series, just a 3-game series)

This summer is going to be GREAT, we survived the winter and we deserve it. I just bought some bronzer today at Macy's, I'm ready!

VD - Got Any?

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and that's ok. I have to work all day. Nanny during the day (hello - $14 a hour, why did I go to college again?) then producing at the station from 4pm to 11pm. I had a date tonight and decided that I'm a guy. I've noticed this before because I'm always the one that is sarcastic, funny and trying to impress, and the date, well, he was sensitive, quiet and thought way too much. We were supposed to meet last Wednesday night, after my tutoring session (yes, I'm still contributing to society and helping the youth) but tutoring was canceled. No phone call, it was just canceled, so I called the guy, I'll call him "MD" (not Matt Dahl, this guy is a doctor, a real MD), and told him that my tutoring was canceled so we could meet earlier. He said since the weather was bad he didn't think we should meet. I know there was dangerous deep snow in the northern suburbs that night, but it wasn't a BLIZZARD in the city, and I was already in my car, come on!!!

Fast forward to tonight, we finally meet at a quaint cafe and we're talking and catching up on our days... and I mention sarcastically that I'm glad the weather held up so we could finally meet and that I was a little mad last week since he canceled just because it snowed... well, he took this VERY seriously. His exact words "Wow, I was just trying to be responsible, I didn't think girls liked pushy guys"

1) Don’t be responsible, impress me and meet me in a snow storm
2) This girl likes a pushy guy, be assertive, it's a major turn on!!

To end this sad story, he actually asked me during the dinner "So how do you think its going?" Never a good sign. He told me that he talked to his friend that day about how important communication is and that honestly he didn't think the date was going well. Ugh. Did he have to say that when it suddenly turned silent in the cafe? So like a typical woman, I apologized over and over and said, "MD I was just kidding, I was just having a bad day" "MD I'm just being sarcastic, sorry" "MD last week was no big deal, we're here now!"

I gave MD a ride home, he offered to shake my hand, and got out of the car, walked down the street with his head hanging down. Of course that's the street I had to turn down to get back to my hood, so I got to see him walk home in disappointment from a few angles.

Back to the drawing board; no Valentine, more time to reflect. Maybe I should be less sarcastic? Maybe I should keep my big mouth shut on first dates? Maybe I should give up?
