I'm not a huge football fan. If I do watch a game, it's the Bears. I have to admit the reason I'm not that interested is that I don't understand the game or how it works. I know you get four chances to pass a ball and score a touchdown. I know that a fieldgoal is worth 3 points. And I know that the refs have special mics so the whole stadium can hear them. That's about all I know. When I got home last night the Bears were losing in the 3rd quarter. Being a lifelong Cub fan I thought, well it's the damn fans' faults, why was everyone chanting SUPERBOWL so soon? Why did we have Joe Theismann on the show last week proclaiming that the Bears would have a perfect season? Why did we jinx our city again?
Remember the times you were a kid and your crossed your fingers and prayed for a special wish, a favor from God? It happened. I can't believe I get this emotional about a game I don't understand, but it's Chicago, it's sports, and spring training is a long ways away.
