Ok, as you know I'm working part time as an associate news producer at WBBM 780 AM. Today was my favorite shift; 11am to 6pm, not too early or too late. But that didn't stop me from driving like a bat out of hell to work just to find the parking lot was full! I ended up parking on lower Wacker Drive and left it there for 7 hours. As I was leaving work, off to meet my family for dinner (Volaire, yummy!) this cute guy got on the escalator with me and we just started talking about our day, he took off his leather gloves and shook my hand and said, "Hi, I'm Stan" He just was getting his eyes examined at the doctor. I told him that I had LASIK nine years ago, but recently my eyes changed so I need to decide if I should get it again. He said "You mean those beautiful eyes of yours?" YES he really said that! He walked me to my car and that's where we found my $50 ticket (that comes up later with guy #2) so we said our goodbyes, he wished me a good night and that was it. Fast forward to after dinner, I'm waiting for the elevator in my building and a very good looking guy who I never saw before held the doors for me and saw my big orange ticket. He looked at it and said "Wow, how'd that happen?" and I said "Yup, $50 that's pretty my paycheck for the day" (not really, but almost radio is only profitable for the few and the lucky) and he's like "Really what do you do? How do you own a condo in this building??" All these questions, so I volleyed back and asked "Well let me ask you, what do you do? How much do you make?" And we laughed and then the doors opened and he goes "Here's what I do, take my card, call me!" WOW, with minimal make-up, and a frizzy halo of hair I had 2 strangers talk to me. I know this might seem quite a strange reason to get so excited, but this has been a downer of a year so far, so every bit of joy is appreciated. I know Terry would say "AND did you call him? Damn you are ghetto, the guy told you to call!" Regarding Terry, I want to thank everyone who has e-mailed me kind words after Terry's death. I think about him every day, and know that a lot of you do too.
